Nightfall: Chapter 2

"Drunk mules have an easier time of not wanting to kill you."

I grimace as I lose my balance and pull my side.

"Still want to kill me?"

I blink, a little taken aback as I see the detonator. "Pass... oh, right. Uh, 'Herald of the New World' I believe it was."
Soren looks the manager over, honestly a little worried. He didn't recall being fitted with a bomb or anything... that bastard went to extreme lengths to protect a book.

I put the detonator away.

"Thank you. Had to make sure Nick did send you after all."

I walk with him out of the vault, locking it all behind me as I went.

"Will you be wanting anything else?"

"...I just jumped out of a hotel for you."

I sigh.

"I'm not sure."

I walk with the manager, scratching my head.
"That depends. To people sent by Nick get the chance to withdraw large sums of cash?"
I smirk, kinda hoping I did, but knowing full well how unlikely it was.

"Well I don't want to kill you ether, if it makes you feel better."

I fly up a hill and stop.

Almost there... I think..

"Maybe we're a sign that our kind can get along.."

"I doubt it. Werewolves are made to kill vampires. It won't change because we got along."

"Depends. Do you have money in an account."

I give a smirk of my own.

"Being an acquaintance of Mr. Knights does not grant you any special treatment."

"You never know... Imagine what we could accomplish together, we could easily crush groups like the 'Nightbane'."

I set of down the hill.

"Mr. Knight. Hmm."
I walk up to the managers side and smile a little, sighing. "How much do you know about Mr. Knight then?"
Perhaps I could get some dirt, or even some personal information on him before it's too late for me to prepare.

"I doubt that. The Nightbane are organised, powerful and well equip. We'd need an army to even think of getting rid of them."

Dawn walked back to the apartment, getting onto her motorcycle and revving it up.
With a sigh, she roared off towards the Meatpacking District.
"Tria..."

"I could get an army. All I would need is a Werewolf to lead his people."

"As much as anyone in the city could tell you if you asked them. He's a multi billionaire who donates to almost every business in New York and owns pretty much every building in the city."

I return to my desk, picking up some papers and ruffling through them.

"Some people say he's been here longer than the city itself. But that's ridiculous of course. Why. He'd have to be over 200 years old."

(Dimitri. His apartment)

=We arrive back at the apartment, both somewhat miffed by today's events. As we head in, I ask what has been on my mind=

Remember what you got for me, Anton? I'd like to see it.

Anton: I figured as much...as for what is, I'd like you to find out for yourself.

=Anton brings two items out of the car, one somewhat heavy, the other looked a tad more fragile=

Is that what I think it is?

=Anton nods somberly=

Anton: He recorded it in his final days. He said it was for you.

=I take the item gingerly and open it, a video recording popping to life=

Lord Varnric: 'If you are getting this recording Dimitri, it means that I am no longer living on this earth. As for what is in this recording, I want both you and Anton to pay attention, because this is information that directly concerns your well-being...'

=I pause it, a look of concern flashing on Anton's face=

Anton: Whatever it is...I think we need to know this now...

=I nod and unpause the recording=

Lord Varnric: 'It involves the plans of one Nicholas Knight...a man I am sure you are both familiar with. He and I worked together for a period of time, and I heard he had a book that I knew it's existence of. After I learned of that book, I heard of vampires dying, dying at the hands of one of their own. It took me a week and I put two and two together. You two...you need to leave that city, if not the country...

=Anton and I pause it, taking the news in=

I tap the desk, sighing, as I look over at the door.
"Multi billionaire... New York... every building in the city..." I rub my head, cursing under my breath.
"Yes, well, perhaps you'd be surprised to find how old some of your most renowned humans actually were." I smile at you, as my eyes glint for a moment in the suns glare through the windows, as I make my way out of the large bank, back onto the streets.
"This sone of a bitch is gonna be easier to get too than I thought."

"Psh. I couldn't lead an army. I can barely lead myself."

I laugh and shake my head. Then my face turns serious.

"Conner you still haven't really told me what happened up the room... It really... messed me up."

"I haven't told you because I don't know myself."

That was a lie. I'd figured it out after I'd lost control. But I didn't know how to explain it to someone who wasn't a werewolf.

"You just randomly got the urge to kiss me?"

I raise me eyebrow.

"No. It's... hard to explain."

"Oh ok..."

We were getting close to the cabin now.

I look towards the cabin.

"I can try and explain. But it's... confusing."

"Please do, I'm very confused.."

I come up to the cabin door and set Conner on his feet.
