Nightfall: Chapter 3

"He didn't torture me. Dimitri did." Dawn replied.

(Sofia)

=I look at the Nightbane and an idea enters my head=

Ahh...She's my obstacle between me and Anton...

=I ponder at the thought=

(S)
=i wink at her over my shoulder, still grinning=
It's up to you, nocte lues.

=and with that, I was gone, walking down the sidewalk with Alodie in tow=

Francis opened the smooth oak door of his rather lavish house, standing aside to let Soren enter, awkwardly walking in, somewhat surprised by the clear wealth Francis had managed to accumulate. It was impressive, for an ageing hunter.
"This is your house?" Soren said as he walked in, eyes wide. "Yessir. Final payment went in a few weeks ago. All ours." The old man had a wide, truly happy smile. Soren had never seen him like this.

Francis ushered Soren into the living room, to which Soren was a little unexpected of. He was normally ushered out back or into a side room, not many humans that knew of him liked his company. Francis sat down, smiling widely as his friend sat across from him.
"Hmm. It is very good to see you, Soren. I expected you to be ten feet under by now." Soren smirked, tapping the edge of his seat.
"I have some business I need to deal with before that happens." Francis cocked his brow.

"Go on."

(Sofia)

=I look, seeing the vampire leaving and leaving the Nightbane alone with Anton=

Ah...this situation is too perfect...

=I walk out of the shadows and head towards Anton, acting as casual as possible=

"So, what now?" Dawn asked Anton.

(Anton)

=I shrug=

Just find a safe spot to hold up for now.

=I turn my head, looking around=

Preferably not near Laveau. Knowing her temper.

=I then spot a figure walking toward us=

And looks like we have some company...

(Sofia)

=I then spot Anton looking at me and do everything to maintain my self-control=

Wait for it...you've waited this long...

=I put on a false smile, continuing to act casual=

"What's going on, Anton?"

(Anton)

=I look to Dawn=

It's nothing, most likely a passerby...

=My eyes follow the figure like a magnet=

A very attractive one at that.

(Sofia)

=I sigh and roll my eyes as I pass by the two=

Now...let's see if this might work...

=I look to the Nightbane and give her a wink=

Seeing the wink, Dawn blushed.
"The one who winked at me?"

(Anton)

=I shake my head, trying not to be distracted=

Yes. That one.

=I beckon the figure over=

Come here, no need to walk away.

(Sofia)

=I turn back on my heel, and an idea pops into my head=

Ahh, so she DOES swing that way... that gives me an idea...

=I find a seat=

This seat taken?

=I blow a kiss to the Nightbane, knowing she was practially putty in my hands=

=after some walking, I slow my pace to walk beside Alodie=
If you have something on your mind, it would be wise to speak it.

"I don't want to talk about it."

And that was the honest truth. I didn't. And I probably wasn't going to talk about it... For... Some time.

If not that, then what else? You will have to talk eventually, and there is all the time this world has to wait until you speak.

Francis scratched his chin, listening to Soren as he spoke. As the vampire did so, a young, beautiful woman walked in. Her body was thin, tight, her hair long and golden, her eyes the brightest and calmest of blues. Something about her made Soren speechless.
"It's nice to see you again, Soren!" She planted a gentle kiss on his cheek, smiling happily. "Ah, you too, Amantha." She laid down some coffee and biscuits, before returning to her kitchen happily humming away.
"Amantha has ages well..." Francis laughed happily, leaning his head back.
"She let herself get bitten a few years ago. Said the idea of living forever appealed to her. I didn't wanna get in her way, it's her life."

Soren looked at Francis, his train of thought veered far off course. "You let her get bitten?!" He whispered harshly at his ageing friend.
"Soren, as hunters grow, and as the Nightbane grow, more and more innocent people are going to get bitten. Some due to Zombies or Mutts trying to expand and escape, others simply for the thrill of it. I had to face this long ago, back when I became a hunter."
Soren looked in the direction of the kitchen, and then back to Francis. "Well if you have a Vampire living with you..." Francis lowered his eyes, nodding.
"The Nightbane found out a while ago. They don't want me as part of their little company now, they want me gone. And her too. They know I know too much, it'd be two birds with one stone." Soren looked at the door, wondering. "How have you managed to live this long then?"
Francis laughed happily, standing and patting Sorens shoulder. "Coz I'm a better shot."

"Then the world will wait for... Something."

You cannot put it off forever. No matter how hard you try.

Dawn blushed, staring at her lap.
"Who is she?" Dawn whispered to Anton.

(Anton)

=I look to Dawn=

Now THAT, is a good question. I have no idea.

=I look to the newcomer=

You have a name, young one?

(Sofia)

=I slouch back in the chair, as relaxed as possible=

Name's Sofia.

=I nearly shoot him a glare, but keep my casual facade=

But most call me Sofie

=I look to the young Nightbane=

Let's soften her up a bit...since she already looks weak in the knees...

And what would be your name, beautiful?

"Dawn. But most call me Dawn."

(Anton)

=I quirk my eyebrow=

Weird...my daughter had that EXACT name...

=I look at her face again=

And only two other people know her nick name...My ex-wife...and...

=My eyes widen briefly=

(Sofia)

Lovely name.

=I love the brief shock on Anton's face=

Do you mind if I have a private chat with the man here, Dawn?

=I lean in close to her, whispering=

I'll make it worth your while if you do.

Still blushing, she stood.
"She knows how to speed things up."

But Dawn stayed in sight...with one hand near a gun at all times.

(Sofia)

=I look to Anton=

And don't think I didn't notice your shock.

(Anton)

The nickname drew my attention.

=I sweat a bit=

What do you want with me, Sofie?

(Sofia)

=I shoot Anton a glare, my voice controlled=

No...You lost that right when you left mother to fend for herself.

(Anton)

I had no choice. It was either me turning her into a vampire, or her being safe.

=I take a whiff=

And lord knows you didn't take it well...

(Sofia)

=I feel my temper flare=

Oh, NOW YOU CARE?!? Mother died when a werewolf mauled her to death.

=I feel my voice rise in pitch=

And that werewolf turned me into one at the age of 24.

=I grab him by the collar and pull him towards my face=

And I'm going to make you pay. So, you better watch your back.

=I throw him onto the ground, and pin his face down with one of my boots=

Because you're a dead man if I ever see you again.

=I walk out, giving the waiter a tip=

Sorry bout the mess.

=He drops to his knees, and I pass Dawn=

Until another time, my dear.

=I give her a kiss on the cheek as I pass, lingering around=

(Anton)

=I get up off the ground, groaning=

Well...I'm in deep shit, now...

=I get in my chair again, dusting myself off, my face red with shame=

I was starting to calm down after I took my anger out on Hot Dog stand owner, and ate a hot dog. Though I was still a little pissed, so I just walked around for a bit. Walking got my mind off the matter and I got to thinking. It was nice to see Anton again, and 70k, but seeing him made me realize how lonely my life is. He was one of the only people I could really call friend and not just be saying that so I could kill them latter. In fact he was the only person I haven't had a friendly exchange and die horrifically because of it.

I give a sigh.

There's much joy and excitement in killing a prey, but calling someone friend was a completely different happiness. One I never had when growing up..

I Stepped out of my car and onto the curb of one of the many streets of NY. I left Corner back at the cabin, even though he wasn't happy about it. My theory was the Nightbane weren't very happy about a Vampire and Werewolf working together to take out KillSquad and escape. So I decided it was best we don't travel together until we were completely sure it was safe.
