Nightfall: Chapter 2

"Surely you can fight it?"

I didn't want to turn into some creature of the night, who fed on humans. That was feared. Hated.

I didn't want to end up attacking my friends, family.

"You can fight it, for a while. Before long, the hunger takes over, and then you are unable to even pick who you attack." I say, as if knowing her thoughts. "Family, friend, anyone. If you keep your feasting to those you don't care for, you'll never hurt them." I smile a little, evilly.

"I see."

So no matter what, it would have to come to that. Great.

I sigh, looking at her with a doubtful eye. "Feeling sorry for yourself isn't going to change it. Being depressed isn't going to change it. You can live your life normally, until your hungers come out. It's sad, but it's not possible to change anymore."
I get on a knee and look her in the eye. "Look, many Vampires like you prefer to strike those that have nothing. Plebs, specifically. You could easily take one down and feed on him. Do that. It'll hurt less than killing a mother or father. Or a child."

"That's still a human life over mine."

I look sideways slightly.

"Do I deserve that?"

You didn't ask for this, did you?

"No..."

I tried to avoid looking them in the eyes.

Then you probably don't deserve it. Whoever changed you probably did it for laughs or for recruiting or whatever. I, at least, am trying to help you adjust to these new changes. Least I can do.

=I nod and bow=

It's the least I can do as well.

I look from the two men, intrigued. "Young girl, what were you prior to this? A simple human, or... someone more important? A Nightbane, perhaps?"

"I know, and... Thanks, if I didn't say it before."

I looked back at them now.

"I was just an average person, with an average job."

"Hmm." I look from the two men to the girl again, sighing. "Whoever did this had no true reason to do it then, as far as we can assume." I rest a hand on her shoulder, and pat it awkwardly. "If you think you are able to take your own life, simply due to a turn of bad luck, then I will not stop you." I look to the others and smile.
"Though I wouldn't be shocked if they did."

Dawn finally found her voice.
"Please." She said quietly to the question about water.

=I wander down the street and spot a familiar abandoned car=

Anton's car...this makes for an interesting development...good for him...

=I take in a bit of a scent at the scene=

Three vampires, and one Nightbane that I am very familiar with

=I then follow the old scent, and take Anton's car=

Hope he doesn't mind me soiling it...

"I didn't plan on taking my life... I still have a chance. Maybe not a normal life, but a life."

But a life away from my famil, friends.

Was it worth it?

Okay.

I stand up, lowering her head to the ground slowly before I do. I head on over to the receptionist at the front desk and quietly ask if she had any water to spare. Luckily, she did. I took it from her and brought it over to Dawn.

Here.

I offer her the cup.

Dawn sits up slowly, and takes a long drink. "Great. I'm related to a Primal who owns New York. Which means the Walker family now includes Vampires. Holyfuckshitbarbeque."

I'm related to a werewolf.

I give a little shrug.

I knew I had a feeling about you. Something I haven't had in many years.

"Great. So you almost killed family."
She sighed, hanging her head. "This is just fucking...insane."

Yupp.

I stand up and pace over to the books.

=I continue along, following the scent left by Anton=

=I then continue and spot the little house hidden in the street=

Well...how exactly to I break it to her...

"You can live your life as you always did. Your daily life." I smile a little, sweetly. "It's the night life that'll get to you."

"Let me guess, that's when the urge, or hunger, is the worst?"

The pack had helped, but I still felt slightly tired.

"So I hear." I step aside, giving the room to you and the other two. "This is their line of expertise, I'm afraid. I don't fit the bill to describe the inner working of a Moden Vampire."
