Nightfall: Chapter 2

"Imagine the bill...."

=I nod=

As you wish.

=I then change and lope behind=

-Don't worry. I'll behave-

=I hang my head at the veiled rebuke=

"Good thing I'm not paying for that window ether."

I point my thumb back towards the hotel. I smile at Conner and place my hand on his.

Dawn actually smiles a bit. "Least you have a sense of humor."


Tria stays close to Veni, eyes scanning for threats.

I lie there in the seat, breathing heavily, one hand clutching the edge of the seat, the other on my side.

I half-flinched when Claire touched my hand,but tried to relax, seeing as I'd just jumped out of a building for her.

=i sent that to everyone nearby, making it just more of an open question. We plodded along, keeping our eyes, ears, and nose open for anything that might get in our way. Damire was pulling the trolley, while Ayashe was simply following along behind everyone=

Once I make it out of the main city, things begin to speed up.

"Theres alot of empty cabins up in the mountains this time of the year, we'll just 'borrow' one until we're done."

I cough again.

"Good plan."

I move my hand so we are now holding hands and give him a gentle squeeze.

I tense up slightly, still not sure about whatever is going on. But I don't push her away, but I also don't return the handhold.

We soon leave the city and hit the open country.

I look out of the window, thinking about what had happened.

Weird day.

"We're going to have to ditch this car soon, are you good enough to walk?"

I look back to Claire.

"I think so."

-What will last?- Tria asked bumping Veni's side playfully.

I nod and pull into a dirt road. After going for awhile I stop behind some brush.

"There should be a cabin near bye, I saw a road going up to it."

I pull my hand away from hers and open the door, half falling out of the car.

I pick myself up, using the bonnet as support.

-The meat, silly. What else? The air conditioning?-

-Oh. I thought you meant the world as we know it.-
A soft howl, more of a wolf trying to laugh but choking, emanated from her.

I jump out and walk around, grabbing Conner and letting him use me as support.

"It should be 1 or 2 miles, I can carry you to make it go faster.."

"Fine."

I can't believe this. Letting a vampire carry me.

I pick him up and start off at a very fast but gentle pace.

"Don't sound to upset, I wasn't very happy when you carried me.."

-My Little Debbie Chocolate Donuts expire on the 21st. Just in time for the end of the world.-
